Just because you have not found your soulmate yet doesn’t mean they don’t exist or that they are an unbeliever. For Christians that feel that your city is limited with options; hence why you are tempted to date non-Christians, this is where international dating sites can come into play. Creating, seeking and expecting opportunities to meet another Christians outside your church means you expand your choices, mentality and faith. Dating as a Christian teenager doesn’t mean that you are exempt from temptation to date a non-Christian just because you attend church. In Christian faith, a “believer” is someone who believes that Jesus Christ is their Lord and saviour. They believe He died on the cross and is the sole son of Christ sent to this world to save us from our sins and give us direct access to heaven.

However, letting what they believe into our lives will bring uncleanliness into our life. Dating non-Christians has been a topic of discussion between Christians for quite some time. It might seem difficult to fathom, but I’m sure this something your parents discussed with their friends too. Non-believers do not have God’s spirit guiding them and don’t follow His laws.

When Christians and non-Christians date, their priorities are very different. Even if they are compassionate, nurturing, and amazing, a non-Christian cannot truly understand your heart that is authentically and passionately devoted to Christ. But it is always best to know that only the Lord can satisfy you. This truth can be a constant reminder for you to avoid dating non-Christians.

We Are Called To Strengthen And Grow One Another

Maybe she was nicer to you than anyone you’ve met in a long time. Maybe she’s the first woman you ever met that likes Cracker Jacks as much as you do. Of course, a woman who’s nice, white-hot cute, and likes Cracker Jacks might be someone you want to ask on a date. Be careful if you think God has told you that Betty from the bookstore is the one for you, but you have no idea if she feels the same way. If you plunge in, convinced that you are on a mission from God, and she’s not sure yet, it’s a quick way to scare her off. Our unconscious mind can kick up powerful feelings that sometimes get mistaken for a message from God.

Christian Dating Myth #2: “The Bible has clearly defined guidelines for dating.”

The girl sad and hopeless and then all of a sudden Prince Charming walks in and her life has meaning. We cannot fulfill this if our spouse is an unbeliever. Sure we will be able to point them to Christ, but if they don’t share our beliefs it will be viewed as criticism. We go through our lives searching for someone we can share it with. We date all kinds of people hoping that we’ll find our soulmate. It also doesn’t matter if you wear a HAZMAT suit and stay ten feet away from her at all times.

But What If They’re Considering Christianity?

This means that they have impacted others, have joy, peace, and kindness. They show the fruits of the spirit in their daily lives. If one is not showing any of these fruits then you need to look into why. Pursue Christ, pray for your spouse, talk to them about Christ, and surrender your marriage fully to Christ.

People can very rarely pull someone up to their level, usually they themselves are drug down. So most likely, your partner wouldn’t become Christian and the risk of sliding back in your faith is higher. I believe dating either leads to marriage or breaking up, so bearing that in mind I view dating as a serious endeavor with marriage as the goal. Ask in faith for the Lord to have His way in this upcoming marriage. Pray your friend wouldn’t martyr themselves or believe these lies.

During our course of relationship, he led me to believe that we were meant to be together and it’s so easy for him to see us married. I guess I just can’t comprehend how someone can choose religion over another person especially when he says we were made for each other. This is where empathy, compromise, and patience come in. Ultimately, every couple has to decide whether it’s possible to agree to disagree on certain topics.

Serving God: Are You Being Called To Serve?

Howsoever strong you may consider your faith to be, your partner’s habits can and will rub off on you. Your partner’s behavior will be shaped by their belief systems, and their behavior will have a deep psychological impact on your own beliefs. Try not to justify your desire but understand where it comes from before you jump to a conclusion.

It’s heartbreaking to fight for someone when they don’t fight for you. Though this situation also breaks the Lord’s heart, you have not sinned. You no longer focus on how things solely impact you, but how they impact you and your spouse. Now you may think “That’s a little drastic”, and my response is that though your situation may not seem like it’s this bad. You’re facing one of these two situations if you are with an unbeliever or have a worldly perception of marriage. The first potential result is that we begin to idolize our spouses.

Some will quote the Bible and discuss their opinions. Others might share their personal stories or stories of their friends. Do not forget to assess and understand whether this person also respects and understands your love and devotion to Christ. So, before you even choose to start talking to someone, you’re going to know whether they are religious or not. This will prevent you from getting into the same predicament you find yourself in now.
